SEATTLE — The beloved neighborhood coffee shop "Bean There, Done That" made waves this week by introducing its newest employee: a fully automated robot barista named "Java Joe."

The sleek, silver machine stands behind the counter alongside human staff members, capable of preparing up to 100 drinks per hour. Owner Michael Chen says the decision came after struggling to keep up with the morning rush.

"We're not replacing our human baristas," Chen explained during Tuesday's unveiling. "Java Joe is here to handle the simpler orders during peak times, so our skilled staff can focus on the more complex, artisanal drinks our customers love."

The robot can prepare basic espresso drinks, drip coffee, and even create simple latte art. However, it cannot yet master the intricate designs that human baristas create, nor can it engage in the friendly banter that regular customers enjoy.

Initial reactions from patrons have been mixed. Regular customer Patricia Wong said she appreciates the faster service but misses the personal touch. "I like chatting with the baristas in the morning," she said. "The robot is efficient, but it doesn't ask about my day."

The shop plans to monitor customer feedback over the next three months before deciding whether to expand the robot's capabilities or adjust its role.
